Frequently Asked Questions
Why Choose Electrolysis Over Temporary Methods, Such As Laser, Waxing, Shaving, Depilatories, Bleaching, Threading, And Tweezing?
Tweezing and waxing remove only the hair shaft, leaving the dermal papilla and the matrix, which can produce more hair. The action of tweezing and waxing also stimulates the follicle to grow deeper, coarser, stronger hair.
Shaving and depilatories remove only surface hair, even the fine vellus hair, which should remain to give your face a soft appearance. Shaving promotes ingrown hairs and cuts all vellus hair, which becomes stubbly. Depilatories can cause a chemical burn of the skin surface tissue, which becomes red and irritated.
Bleaching coarsens the hair by making it more porous and drier. In many cases, bleached hair can be just as or even more noticeable due to the change in texture and contrast of color.
Laser-assisted hair removal is authorized by the FDA to provide permanent hair reduction only. It is not permanent or painless. Laser cannot target the hair selectively; electrolysis treatments are often sought to clear the treated area after a series of laser treatments.

Is electrolysis expensive?
The overall cost is tied to each individual's recommended treatment schedule. Considering the overall benefits of electrolysis, it costs less because the treatment is permanent. Continuous use of temporary methods will cost more in dollars, time, and embarrassment. Prepaid smart cards are available for convenient payment and there are other affordable options.
How long does each treatment take?
Individual sessions generally last between 15 minutes and one hour, although some body areas can allow for longer treatment times. This practice results in a lower overall cost over time as appointments will not need to be as frequent. Each circumstance varies according to several factors, such as skin type, extent, and coarseness of hair growth, client tolerance, and previous hair removal methods.
How many treatments are required?
Electrolysis is not an overnight solution. However, with time and commitment, it is a permanent solution. Estimates regarding the overall duration of treatment may be given only in generalities. Consistency in maintaining a prescribed course of treatment scheduling will significantly influence progress. As the treatment progresses and hair re-growth decreases, sessions become less frequent and shorter in duration.
Does electrolysis have any side effects on the skin?
Immediately following treatment, there will be slight redness, which varies with each individual. A post-electrolysis treatment of cataphoresis will be provided. This process soothes the skin, provides an antibacterial effect, and helps reduce redness.
How is electrolysis done?
Electrolysis involves the insertion of a fine, sterilized, disposable probe into the hair follicle. You will not feel this insertion. Next, there is a brief application of low-level electrical current and epilation of the treated hair. Electrology is labor-intensive, intricate, and precise, and it requires superior judgment. It must be performed in a sanitary environment by a skilled practitioner.
